Can you remember when you stopped carrying cash out of the house? Do you still remember the first time you held a mobile payment code and asked the cash register to settle?

Do you know when the world's first cash register was born? Today, let's share the past and present of cash registers with everyone.

First Collection Bank System

Do you all know? The first cash register was born in the world as early as 1879, which was manufactured by American brothers James and John Liddy. It is said that this machine was

invented at that time to supervise cashiers and prevent them from having ulterior motives, so this cash register can only achieve

business record and memo functions. Since then, cash registers have also begun their development history.

The first generation cash register was bulky and clumsy, but it already possessed the most important function of modern cash registers, which is to record the amount of each

transaction. Moreover, customers can also see the numbers displayed on the cash register. If the clerk inputs the wrong number, customers

can immediately detect any abnormalities, which invisibly supervises the cashier. Moreover, the boss no longer has to worry about the clerk's misconduct. So in the following decades,

retail management has been using this generation of machines.

Second Collection Bank System

After a long period of development, in the 1960s, Japan successfully developed the world's first electronic cash register. Compared to the first generation, this machine added intelligent

and networked functions, but these two cash register systems still did not have product management functions. In inventory

management, it still requires manpower to count the quantity of goods and design many complex tables, resulting in low efficiency. Moreover, at that time, China had not kept up with

the times and was still using manual bookkeeping methods to handle accounts.

Third Collection Bank System

In 1981, the Ministry of Commerce organized Beijing's commercial departments to introduce the Omron 528 cash register from Japan. It was first piloted in various shopping malls in

Beijing and found to be much more efficient than cash collection. Subsequently, it was widely promoted nationwide, ushering

in the era of cash registers in China.

With the maturity of personal computer technology, cash register systems have evolved to the third generation - PC based cash register systems. The third collection system utilizes

the powerful functions of personal computers to meet various business management needs such as file processing, inventory

and customer information management, card swiping, and verification. The common approach is a separate architecture, which includes a personal computer host with a small display,

printer, cash box, POS keyboard, etc. It is also possible to package the equipment in a cabinet as an integrated body.

In 2002, the well-known China UnionPay was officially established, and the bank card business began to develop towards intensification and scale, bidding farewell to the situation of

one machine, one bank, and N machines, one store. Before 2010, people's main means of shopping and consumption were cash,

credit cards, and savings cards. In 2010, Alipay's code scanning payment business came out, and people began to gradually break away from cash.

Nowadays, we have already entered the era of cashless, and almost all supermarkets and convenience stores are equipped with cash register systems. The popularity of cash registers

in smaller community stores is also increasing, which is an unstoppable trend.

With the changing demand in the supermarket market and the development of big data, the cash register system is constantly being adjusted and upgraded. I believe that in the near

future, the cash register system will unlock more functions, bringing people a more convenient life!

The Yingdi team is also constantly learning and updating the functions of the cash register system, strengthening the research and development of cash register software systems, in

order to achieve more accurate marketing, further improve resource allocation efficiency, and better meet the needs of merchants!
